In this role you will be responsible for content-commissioning for Portland Press, with a focus on driving submissions and citations and growing the overall profile of the research titles in the portfolio through strategic commissioning and pipeline management. You will build strong relationships with the scientific community and work collaboratively and in close alignment with the journal Boards in order to keep commissioning activity in step with journal content strategies, building the right coverage and authorship for each of the research titles.
Key targets are to invite and ‘win’ excellent review contributions to the research titles and build the corpus of citable and useful published articles with a view to increase the journal profiles and attract high-quality research submissions to the journals.
The role involves travel, nationally and internationally. Suitable candidates must be qualified to a degree level in the biosciences, and will ideally have some experience of being a Commissioning Editor or working in an editorial department for an STM publication.
