In January, the Government launched a green paper on its proposed Industrial Strategy, marking the start of a consultation during which the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)  will be gathering feedback, with the aim of making the strategy as effective as possible.

Commenting on the Industrial Strategy announcement, Professor Sir David Baulcombe, President of the Biochemical Society, said:

"We are pleased to see the strong focus on science, research and innovation, and on developing skills in the Government's Industrial Strategy green paper. The proposed actions, covering issues such as priority areas for funding and qualification routes, will have a broad impact across both industry and academia.

We would therefore like to invite all of our members to provide their views and help us respond to this public consultation in order to ensure the molecular biosciences are well-placed to play a leading role in creating a prosperous and dynamic future for British science.”

The Biochemical Society will be participating in the Royal Society of Biology’s response to this consultation. If you would like to contribute to our response, please complete this short online survey by Tuesday 28 February.
