The Society welcomes the new Careers Strategy launched today.

Responding to the launch, Dr Helen Watson, Chair of the Society’s Training Theme Panel said:

"We welcome today’s Careers Strategy and its adoption of the Gatsby Charitable Foundation Benchmarks. High quality careers guidance is crucial if young people are to capitalise on the opportunities available to them. Strengthening the UK’s activity in this area will be vital in supporting delivery of the Government’s ambitious Life Sciences Industrial Strategy and ensuring a strong future for molecular biosciences.

As part of our own careers activity, the Society is proud to be a key supporter of the STEM Insight scheme. This scheme links schools and colleges with universities and employers, providing short placements for teachers that help to raise awareness of the diversity of careers and career routes in STEM as well as to contextualise the curriculum with cutting edge research and real-world applications."
