A Biochemical Society Focused Meeting
Meeting Background
Target of rapamycin (TOR) is a eukaryotic protein kinase that forms TOR complexes 1 and 2, (m)TORC1/2, which contain distinct components and phosphorylate different substrates. This conference will cover the regulation of the TOR complexes, the many roles that these complexes play in cellular regulation, and their involvement in human diseases such as cancers.
Topics:
- mTOR signalling networks
- Growth regulation
- Nutrient sensing
- Regulation of autophagy
- Crosstalk with signalling pathways
- Drugging the mTOR pathway
- TOR in lower eukaryotes
- mTOR in animal physiology
- mTOR in human disease
Proceedings (invited speakers) will be published in Biochemical Society Transactions.
Abstract deadline EXTENDED: 18 January 2013.
Abstract submission is now closed. If you would like to submit a late abstract please contact the Conference Office.
Earlybird registration deadline: 14 February 2013.
Registration is now available
A Biochemical Journal Poster Prize was awarded to Kayleigh Dodd (Cardiff University, United Kingdom) for her poster abstract entitled "Mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) primarily drives 5’-cap-dependent translation of Hypoxic Inducible Factor-1a (HIF-1a) via co[ART1] -operative action of 4E-BP1 and S6K1".
Oral communication slots are available at this meeting. All attendees, particularly researchers in the early stages of their career, are invited to submit a poster abstract for consideration as an oral communication.
Student Bursaries are available for this meeting.
