Meeting background
The organized destruction of proteins inside the cell is crucial to maintain homeostasis and to face physiological and pathological situations. Deregulation of molecular mechanisms controlling these processes is at the origin of multiple pathologies such as cancers, immune and mental disorders. Under the name of INPROTEOLYS, our network focuses in the diverse proteolytical activities existing inside the cell to generate an integrated/coordinated vision of protein destruction, and the processes regulated in this manner. One of the main goals of this network is bringing together people with different expertise aiming to share their know how, reagents, and tools under collaborative bases. Contributing to academic formation, sharing/developing new technologies, and enhance productivity are also main aims of INPROTEOLYS. Since 2005, we have established bi- or multi-lateral collaborations and applied for various national and European grants. To increase the potential of our interactions, we develop the following actions:
- Annual meetings are the occasions to increase discussions among members of our network, and with our invited gests, specialist in various areas related or complementary to intracellular proteolysis. Our meetings give the opportunity to joint efforts and create interactions with other national and European scientific societies. - Consolidate our webage to favour our exchanges (www.inproteolys.eu). This web will include permanently open forums for discussion and, in general, useful information for our members, and other research groups working in our field.
- Academic and technical formation under the form of either short trainings in specialized laboratories or organized training courses. These training courses will contribute to democratise the latest/novel technologies and homogenise conceptual, and technical knowledge in our field all around the EU. www.inproteolys.es/firstinproteolystrainingcourse.cfm. Thus, this network should contribute to create an active, productive and competitive European Scientific space in areas where protein destruction is a key event.
