Quantitative proteomics and data analysis

28—29 November 2011

Charles Darwin House, London, UK

A Biochemical Society Workshop held in association with the British Society for Proteome Research.

Workshop background:

This two-day workshop will focus on issues and developments in quantitative proteomics. The first day will be a Training Day for relative newcomers to the field, and will introduce them to quantitative strategies, followed by round-table problem-solving discussions of experimental and informatics solutions. The second day will be a Workshop addressing  current issues and the future for quantification in proteomics.

Workshop topics:

  • Relative and absolute quantification
  • Label-free and labeled mediated approaches
  • Informatics for quantification
  • Data standards
  • Quantitative statistics and experimental design

Workshop format:

Training Day (Day 1)

There will be a few introductory presentations to set the scene and define the issues. For the main part of the day, there will be eight tables of eight participants, addressing specific issues such as label-free quantification, absolute quantification with stable isotopes, SILAC, MaxQuant, quantification in MASCOT and more. Each participant will be able to choose two, one hour round table sessions. The final part of the day will be an open discussion about experimental design and quantification strategies. Each participant will receive a disk of e-resources (PDFs, software, etc).

Workshop Day (Day 2)

The goal is to identify and discuss the main issues in quantitative proteomics, including experimental design and reporting of quantitative data. The agenda will be flexible to suit the day, and will be concluded by a wrap-up session to capture the main outcomes.

Delegates can choose to attend either one of the days or both days of this event. Please indicate on the application form which of the days you wish to attend.

Application deadline: 17 October 2011

Application is now closed. If you wish to submit an application please contact the Conference Office.

Applicants will hear whether their application has been successful by 2 November.

This event is held in association with the British Society for Proteome Research.

Approved by the Society of Biology for the purpose of CPD, this event may be counted as 42 CPD credits.
