Venue

Biochemical Society Meeting 678 will be held at the South Kensington campus of Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London between the 16 and 18 December 2002.

The South Kensington campus features state of the art lecture theatres in which the diverse scientific programme will take place. The spacious exhibition hall in the Sherfield Building will house the posters, trade exhibition and refreshments.

Imperial College was formed in 1907 and today is one of the top UK University institutions for teaching and research. Many great names are associated with the College, including Sir Alexander Fleming and Sir Ernst Chain.

Imperial College is situated in the heart of London, between the Royal Albert Hall and the Museums of South Kensington (the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum). Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are only a few minutes walk away.

By underground
Imperial College is within walking distance from South Kensington underground station. South Kensington station is situated on the District, Circle and Piccadilly Lines.

By car
We would strongly advise delegates against driving into central London by car.
If you are going to travel by car there is limited parking available on campus. This must be pre-booked & there will be a charge of approximately 25 per day.
There is also a NCP car park situated close by (please see; NCP car park)
If you are going to be travelling by car into central London please refer to: AA or RAC for advice.

By taxi
Please ensure you only use a reputable mini-cab or Black cab. Charges may be metered or pre-set, please check before travelling. Cab drivers expect to be tipped 10% of the total fare.

There is no campus accommodation available at Imperial College however there is an excellent hotel booking service at Imperial College Conference Office - Hotel Booking Service. Please note that the Biochemical Society is unable to make accommodation bookings for delegates for this Meeting.
If you email the Imperial College Accommodation Office for information only, you must state the Meeting name to ensure that you are given the correct information.

The Biochemical Society registration desk will be situated in the ground floor lobby of the Sherfield Building.

All delegates are invited to a complimentary drinks reception from 6.30 - 8.00pm in the Main Dining Hall, Sherfield Building, Imperial College. Tickets must be pre-booked.

There will be a limited number of places available for delegates to attend Colloquium Dinners throughout the meeting. Tickets must be pre-booked (see registration form).

Research Colloquium: Biological Functions of Sulphated Glycoproteins

The Research Colloquium is open to all researchers working on sulphated glycoproteins.

The opportunity to give a short oral presentation is offered only to students or junior postdoctoral researchers (in the first 3 years of their postdoctoral work) working in the field. Students and postdoctoral researchers in the first 2 years of their research selected to give a short talk will be eligible for free student membership of the Biochemical Society and a student travel grant to attend the meeting.

Refunds


Cancellations will be accepted in writing until Friday 29 November, and up until this date full refunds will be given. However, after this date, neither full nor partial refunds can be given.
