Meeting
Mannan-binding lectin (MBL) is now recognised as an important component of innate immunity, with an influence on a wide spectrum of diseases, including bacterial infections, rheumatoid arthritis, cystic fibrosis and recurrent miscarriage. MBL insufficiency may be most relevant in the context of secondary immune deficiency, including that associated with chemotherapy. A plasma-derived product has already been used for replacement therapy, and the emergence of a recombinant protein should permit expansion into large-scale clinical trials.
This symposium has been arranged to bring together scientists and clinicians to review the clinical significance of MBL and consider the most appropriate target disorders for MBL therapy. It will be of particular interest to biochemists, immunologists, haematologists, oncologists, rheumatologists, obstetricians and paediatricians. This meeting has been approved by the Royal College of Pathologists for CPD purposes and Certificates of Attendence will be issued for delegates registered on CPD schemes.

Posters
Poster communications relevant to the symposium are welcome and oral presentations will be chosen from submitted Abstracts.
Note that abstract submission is a three-step process and you must complete all steps to successfully submit your abstract.
Abstract Length The maximum number of words allowed in your entire abstract is 230 words. This includes the Title, Authors, Addresses AND Abstract body. Please do not type two spaces after a full stop (at the end of a sentence) as this will reduce the number of words that you will be allowed to include in your abstract.
The preferred method for submission is to type your abstract straight into the online submission form using the buttons on the form to add special characters or formatting. However it is also possible to paste text from a word-processed document as long as formatting and special characters are added via the buttons on the online submission form.
Has my abstract been accepted? Once you click the 'submit' button, the online submission page will change to a submission confirmation page and you will immediately receive a unique control number which will identify your abstract. If you do not receive a control number, then please email support@portlandpress.com immediately. Approximately 2 weeks after the abstract submission deadline has passed, you will receive an email informing you that your poster has been accepted.
Poster size Posterboard size 1M wide x 2M high portrait. Velcro to mount your poster will be provided at the meeting.

Confirmation letters also act as a receipt, and should also contain venue maps and delegate information. Please bring the letter with you to the conference.
If you have not received a confirmation letter within two weeks of registering please contact Portland Customer Services on +44 (0) 1206 796 351

Official letter of invitation
Official letters of invitation, which are intended to assist with administrative arrangements in certain countries, will be issued upon request once an abstract has been submitted (and accepted), and registration fees have been received.
