10th Nitrogen Cycle Meeting 2004

Meeting

Background
The UK-NL Nitrogen Cycle Meeting has been held annually for the last eight years and traditionally the location has alternated between the UK and The Netherlands.

The Meeting
This meeting will provide a unique opportunity in 2004 for experts with interests in the Nitrogen Cycle to meet informally and discuss recent advances in the field. The meeting will cover a range of topics related to the nitrogen cycle, but will mainly focus on aspects related to microbial physiology and biochemistry.

Aim
The aim of the meeting, as in previous years, will be to encourage young post-doctoral researchers and PhD students to present their current work in an informal setting and to stimulate the flow of current thoughts and ideas. The young scientists will all talk in sessions in which one or more contributions will be also be made by guest speakers with high international profiles in the field.

Poster abstract submission is now closed. If you are interested in bringing a poster to this meeting please email meetings@biochemisty.org.

Poster boards will be 2m high and 1m wide (portrait) and velcro will be provided.

Has my abstract been accepted?
After submitting your abstract you should receive a submission number which will identify your abstract. If you do not receive a submission number then please e-mail meetings@biochemistry.org immediately. Approximately 2 weeks after the abstract submission deadline has passed, you will recieve an e-mail informing you whether your poster has been accepted.

Online registration for this meeting is now open. The early registration deadline is 2 August 2004.

Getting There
By Car
From London take the M11/A11; just outside Norwich take the A47 (Southern Bypass) in the direction of Swaffham; the University is signposted off at the next exit. If you are driving from the North or the Midlands, you can use the A47 via Kings Lynn, or the new A14 as far as Newmarket and then take the A11 to Norwich. The University of East Anglia is situated on the outskirts of Norwich, around two and a half miles west of the city centre, just off Earlham Road (B1108) which is one of the main roads out of the city. To park on campus you will need to purchase a ticket from the machines in the car park.

By Train
Norwich is less than two hours from London by train and there is an InterCity link with the Midlands, the North of England and Scotland via Peterborough. Trains run from London Liverpool Street approximately every hour. There are regular buses direct to the University from outside the train station (number 25) and a taxi to the University from the train station will take about 20 minutes.

By Coach and Bus
National Express coaches run from all major cities in the UK to Surrey Street Bus Station in the city centre. Buses 25, 26 and 27 run regularly from nearby Castle Meadow and St Stephens Street in the City Centre to the University.

By Air
Norwich Airport has regular flights to and from Aberdeen, Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Manchester, and international connections via Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. The easiest way to reach the University from the Airport is by taxi, this should cost around 8.

Confirmation

All registered delegates will be sent a confirmation e-mail to confirm registration details. This letter should be checked carefully to ensure that all requirements are correct. In particular, the spelling of names and affiliations should be checked, as this information will be used to create badges.
Confirmation e-mails also act as a receipt, and should also contain venue maps and delegate information. Please bring the letter with you to the conference.

Refunds

Cancellations will be accepted in writing 10 working days before the meeting. However, after this date, neither full nor partial refunds can be given. Please note that refunds of less than 15 cannot be given.

Disabled access is available. It would be helpful if you could let the Meetings Office (meetings@biochemistry.org) know in advance if you require any special assistance during your stay.


Official Letter of Invitation

Official letters of invitation, which are intended to assist with administrative arrangements in certain countries will only be issued when the individual has completed the following criteria:

1) Submitted an abstract which has been approved by the meeting scientific organizer for inclusion into the relevant meeting

2) Sent a letter from the head of their academic department on University headed paper saying why they need to attend the meeting in relation to their research

3) Registered and paid for the meeting.

Such letters do not imply commitment of financial or other support by the organizers.
