Poster Abstract Submission

Poster abstract submission has now closed. If you would like to bring a poster to this meeting please contact sally.peam@biochemistry.org.

Has my abstract been accepted?
After submitting your abstract you should have received a submission number which will identify your abstract. If you did not receive a submission number then please email meetings@biochemistry.org immediately. Approximately 2 weeks after the abstract submission deadline has passed, you will receive an email informing you whether your poster has been accepted.

A poster board 1m high x 1.5m wide (A0 landscape) and velcro will be provided.

Poster Sessions
All posters will be displayed for the duration of the meeting. Presenting authors should stand by their posters during the sessions as detailed below;

Thursday 11 November - 12.00 - 13.30
Friday 12 November - 12.30 - 14.00

The above fees are inclusive of the late fee.

Only those who register before Monday 1 November 2004 will be included in the Meeting Attendee List.


Venue

This Biochemical Society Focused Meeting is taking place at Hulme Hall, University of Manchester, UK.

Hulme Hall occupies a pleasant leafy site just 1 1/2 miles from Manchester City Centre and is easily accessible from all over the UK.


Travelling to Manchester

By Air
Manchester Airport (telephone: +44 (0) 161 489 3000) is located approximately 8 miles from Hulme Hall.

Getting from Manchester Airport to Hulme Hall
By train
- trains run from Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly railway station (approximate journey time: 20 minutes, approximate cost: 6 return). From Manchester Piccadilly station attendees can either catch a taxi (approximate journey time: 15 minutes, approximate cost: 7) to Hulme Hall or a bus from Piccadilly Gardens bus station (see local bus information below).
By taxi - Manchester Airport has taxi ranks at all terminals (approximate journey time: 25 minutes, approximate cost: 10).
By bus/coach - Skyline buses (no. 43) run from Manchester Airport to Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour. See GMPTE for further details.

By Coach
There are good express connections to Manchester from most towns and cities in Britain, plus international routes from Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris.

The National Express coach station is located in Chorlton Street, Manchester City Centre.

From Chorlton Street attendees can either catch a taxi or walk to Piccadilly Gardens station and catch a bus (see local bus information below).

By Train
Manchester has three main train stations, Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Victoria, all are located near the City Centre.
From all stations attendees can either catch a taxi, which will take about 15 minutes and cost approximately 7, or a local bus (for further information see local bus information below).
From Manchester Piccadilly - attendees should walk to Piccadilly Gardens bus station.
From Manchester Oxford Road - buses depart from Oxford Road.
From Manchester Victoria - attendees are advised to catch the Metro to Piccadilly Gardens bus station.

By Local Bus
Piccadilly Gardens bus station - attendees can catch bus numbers 41, 42, 43, 44, 45A or 48.
Manchester Oxford Road - attendees can catch bus numbers 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 48 or 49.

For Hulme Hall alight on Wilmslow Road. The venue is on the corner of Wilmslow Road and Oxford Place.

Driving to Hulme Hall

From the M62 Eastbound
Leave the M62 at J12 and join the M602. At the end of M602, join Regent Road (A57) and continue along and join the A57M (Mancunian Way). Leave at the second exit sign-posted A34 Congleton and UMIST (hair-pin bend) and keep left, following signs for the Universities. Turn left onto the A34 (dual carriageway) and get in the right hand lane. Turn right at the first set of traffic lights into Grosvenor Street. Stay in the left hand lane and turn left at the next set of traffic lights onto Oxford Road (B5117). As you continue down Oxford Road it leads into Wilmslow Road, Hulme Hall is on the left just after the junction with Moss Lane East.

From the M62 Westbound
Leave M62 at J18 and join M60 ring road. Leave M60 at J22 and turn right at traffic lights onto Oldham Road (A62). Continue along until the end and turn left to join Great Ancoats Street (A665). Follow signs for the Universities and join the Mancunian Way (A57M). Leave at the second exit onto Higher Cambridge Street. Turn left at the next set of traffic lights onto Booth Street West and then turn right onto Oxford Road (B5117). The University campus is straight ahead. As you continue down Oxford Road it leads into Wilmslow Road, Hulme Hall is on the left just after the junction with Moss Lane East.

From the M6/M56
Leave the M6 at Junction 19 and turn right onto the A556. Follow signs for Manchester Airport and join the M56. Stay on M56 until it joins Princess Park Way (A5103). Continue for a further four miles before turning right at Young's Royal Brewery into Moss Lane East (B5219). Continue to the T-junction and turn left onto Oxford Road (B5117). As you continue down Oxford Road it leads into Wilmslow Road, Hulme Hall is on the left just after the junction with Moss Lane East.

From the M67
At the end of the motorway, join Hyde Road (A57). Continue along for approx 3 miles, following signs for the City Centre. Upon reaching a major roundabout (the Apollo Theatre is on the left) take the second exit, Brunswick Street (signposted Universities). Continue along and go straight through the next set of traffic lights and then turn left onto Oxford Road. As you continue down Oxford Road it leads into Wilmslow Road, Hulme Hall is on the left just after the junction with Moss Lane East.

Accommodation is not included in the registration fee for this meeting.

Confirmation Letters

All registered delegates will be sent a confirmation email to confirm registration details. This email should be checked carefully to ensure that all requirements are correct. In particular, the spelling of names and affiliations should be checked, as this information will be used to create badges.
Confirmation emails also act as a receipt, and should also contain venue maps and delegate information. Please bring a printout of the email with you to the conference.

Refunds

Cancellations will be accepted in writing until Wednesday 27 October 2004 (subject to a 15 cancellation fee). After this date, neither full nor partial refunds can be given.


Letters of Invitation

Official letters of invitation, which are intended to assist with administrative arrangements in certain countries will only be issued when the individual has completed the following criteria:

1) Submitted an abstract which has been approved by the meeting scientific organizer for inclusion into the relevant meeting

2) Sent a letter from the head of their academic department on University headed paper saying why they need to attend the meeting in relation to their research

3) Registered and paid for the meeting.

Such letters do not imply commitment of financial or other support by the organizers.
