Meeting background
The Ras superfamily of GTPases includes the Rab, Rho, Ras and ARF families, members of which contribute to a vast array of cellular processes from signal transduction to vesicle trafficking. These proteins are active and interact with their downstream targets when bound to GTP, and inactive when bound to GDP.
This Focused Meeting will provide a unique forum for biologists working in a variety of cellular systems, from yeast to mammals and from intra-Golgi transport to signal transduction, to share results and discuss technological approaches. In addition, the meeting will be of wide-spread interest to many people working on GTPases to find out how they can use these new approaches to investigate the function of their specific proteins of interest.

The Royal Agricultural College
The Localization and Activation of Ras-like GTPases Focused Meeting will be held at The Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester between the 21 - 23 March 2005.
The Royal Agricultural College (RAC) is set on the edge of the historic Roman town of Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswold countryside. The immaculate peaceful grounds mirror the style of an Oxford college, with a quadrangle and tower. It was the first agricultural college in the English-speaking world and was founded in 1838 and granted the Royal Charter in 1845. Much of the College is built in the Victorian Gothic style with two of the former old farm buildings remaining.
