Biochemical Society Annual Symposium - Structure and function in cell adhesion

3—5 December 2007

The Palace Hotel, Manchester, UK

Manchester

Manchester is a major city with a population of 441,200 located in North West England. It is historically notable for being the worlds first industrialized city and the subsequent central role it played during the Industrial Revolution as the dominant international centre of textile manufacture and cotton spinning. It even became known as Cottonopolis!

Nowadays Manchester is known to many as the Capital of the North and forms part of the English Core Cities Group. It is a busy and energetic centre of the arts, media, higher education and commerce. Perhaps it is most famous for its two major Premiership League football teams, Manchester City and Manchester United.
