What is included in the fees?


Day delegate fees include lunches and refreshments for the duration of the Meeting.

The 2 night residential rate includes 2 nights accommodation, lunch on 10 and 11 May, refreshments for the duration of the meeting, and dinner on 9 May.

The 3 night residential rate includes 3 nights accommodation, lunch on 10 and 11 May, refreshments for the duration of the meeting, and dinner on 9 and 11 May.
On Thursday evening (10 May), all delegates are asked to make their own dinner arrangements in nearby Ironbridge (transport will be provided).


Payment of fees

All payments must be made prior to the meeting.

(Preferred method of payment, and the only acceptable form of payment for online registration)

Confirmation email

All registered delegates will receive a confirmation email to confirm registration details. This email should be checked carefully to ensure that all requirements are correct. In particular, the spelling of names and affiliations should be checked, as this information will be used to create badges.

Confirmation emails also act as a receipt. Please bring a copy of the email with you to the meeting.

Registration at the meeting

Registration on 9 May will take place in the SA building from 14:00. Please bring your confirmation email to present at the registration desk at the meeting. Badges will be issued upon registering and, for security reasons, must be worn for the duration of the meeting.


Student travel grants

The maximum student travel grant available is 150 and includes:
Registration fees (up to 50)
Accommodation (up to 50)
Travel (up to a maximum of 50)

The following principles apply to application for a Student Travel Grant:

1. Students can apply for a Travel Grant if they are a member of the Biochemical Society by the poster abstract submission deadline and have submitted a poster abstract.

2. Students can only apply for one Student Travel Grant in a year.

3. Students are not eligible for a Student Travel Grant if they have already received funding from the General Travel Fund in that same year.

4. All student members of the Biochemical Society are entitled to apply for these Travel Grants and this entitlement will extend to PhD graduates for up two years after graduation and to foreign student members in respect of travel in the UK and Irish Republic.

How to apply:
A registration form for the Meeting should be completed and submitted to Portland Customer Services. Registration is either online or via printable PDF.
A copy of this form should also be sent to the Meetings Office along with the Student Travel Grant Application Form.

Grant applications received four weeks prior to the meeting will be available for collection at the meeting (cheque only); however, you may apply for a grant at the Registration Desk, or up to four weeks after the meeting.

Subject to approval, applicants will receive a cheque for the appropriate amount. The maximum amount for travel expenses that will be reimbursed will be at the level of the current Young Persons Railcard fare. If the application does not use up the full amount of the Grant the balance cannot be transferred to another meeting.


Posters, prizes and abstract submission

Poster abstract submission for this meeting has now closed. The deadline for submissions was 5 March 2007. If you missed the abstract submission deadline, but would still like to bring a poster to the meeting, please email kay.miller@biochemistry.org

Poster Prize
Ulo Langel's book entitled Handbook of Cell-Penetrating Peptides, Second Edition will be awarded to the best poster presented at the meeting.


Has my abstract been accepted?
After submitting your abstract you should have received a submission number which will identify your abstract. If you have not received a submission number, then please email meetings@biochemistry.org immediately.

All authors were emailed on 16 March 2007. The email contained the following information: whether your poster has been accepted or not and details of your poster number and session time.

All poster abstracts will be available to view online two weeks prior to the meeting.

Poster Board size: 2m x 1m (portrait)

Velcro to mount your poster will be provided at the meeting.

Travel

Within the UK


By road
Approaching from the east (inc. Birmingham and Wolverhampton), leave the M54 at Junction 4 and take the B5060 Castle Farm Way. At the first roundabout, turn left on to the A5 Telford Way (also known as St George's bypass), then at the Priorslee roundabout take the second exit on to Shifnal Road.

Coming from the west (inc. Shrewsbury and Wales), leave the M54 at Junction 5 and take the A5 Rampart Way. Go straight over the interchange on to the A5 Telford Way, cross over the motorway, and at the Priorslee roundabout take the Shifnal Road turning.

Car parking is available on campus.

By public transport
By bus: The campus is a five-minute bus journey from the town centre on the number 92 service.
By train: There is a direct train from Birmingham New Street into Telford Central (takes 30 to 35 minutes), and also from Wolverhampton (15 to 25 minutes) and stations on the Shrewsbury line. From there, you can pick up a bus or a taxi to the campus (or even walk in about 15 minutes).


By Air - from outside of the UK


From Heathrow and Gatwick Airports

Take the Gatwick Express or Heathrow Express
train and then the Underground to London Euston. From there, take a train to Telford. Please note you will need to change at either Birmingham New Street, or Wolverhampton for Telford. Connecting trains into Telford Central from Birmingham take 30 to 35 minutes, and from Wolverhampton 15 to 25 minutes. From there, you can pick up a bus or a taxi to the campus (or even walk in about 15 minutes).


Birmingham International Airport
Birmingham International Airport is the closest airport to Telford. The airport passenger terminals are directly linked to Birmingham International rail station by SkyRail. The SkyRail is free, operates about every 2 minutes when the rail station is open and the journey takes less than 2 minutes.


On arrival at Birmingham Internation rail station, purchase a ticket to Telford Central. You will need to change trains changing at Birmingham New street for Telford Central (takes about 35 minutes). On arrival at Telford Central, after a long journey we would advise taking a taking a taxi to the campus.


Accommodation

All residential delegates and Speakers will be accommodated on the Telford Campus, in ensuite accommodation. Please note that accommodation will be arranged only if pre-booked via the meeting registration form.

Telford Campus halls of residence are on a greenfield site in the grounds of Priorslee Hall - a grade-II listed 18th Century red brick mansion.

All rooms on Telford Campus are inclusive of basic contents insurance, and have wireless internet access and launderette facilities.

All rooms are single study bedrooms with ensuite facilities, and have shared kitchen areas between groups of six people.

Delegates may collect keys from the SA building reception from 10:00 am on the day of arrival. Rooms must be vacated by 10:00 a.m. on the day of departure.


Refunds

Cancellations will be accepted in writing until 25 April 2007, and a refund less 15 administration charge will be issued.

After this date, neither full nor partial refunds can be given. Please note that no refunds of less than 15 can be issued.


Official letter of invitation

Official letters of invitation, which are intended to assist with administrative arrangements in certain countries will only be issued when the individual has completed the following criteria:

1) Submitted an abstract which has been approved by the meeting scientific organizer for inclusion into the relevant meeting

2) Sent a letter from the head of their academic department on University headed paper saying why they need to attend the meeting in relation to their research

3) Registered and paid for the meeting

Such letters do not imply commitment of financial or other support by the organizers.
