Biochemical Society Conference Proposals

The Biochemical Society organizes three main types of conferences:

  • Focused Meetings
  • Harden Conferences
  • Annual Symposia

During each year, calls are made for Joint events, Hot Topic Events, Annual Symposia, Workshops and YLS events.            

 

In addition, financial support is available to organizers of meetings recognized as Biochemical Society supported Independent Meetings.

Proposal deadlines

Conference proposals are welcomed for scheduling throughout the year to complement the Society's vibrant conferences programme.

Next proposal deadline for Workshops: 31 May 2012.

 

Next proposal deadline for all other events: 3 September 2012. Proposals submitted by this date will be considered at the Meetings Board in October 2012.

 

 

 

Proposals Timetable

Focused Meetings

 

Focused Meetings on molecular sciences topics:

  • can take place over 1 to 3 days;
  • can take place in any part of the UK or overseas;
  • can be joint with another organization/society;
  • are entitled to full secretariat support services;
  • proceedings are published in Biochemical Society Transactions.

Annual Symposium

 

The most prestigious event in the Biochemical Society's conference calendar:

The Guidelines for submitting an Annual Symposium Proposal ensure that your proposal will meet the criteria detailed in the Society's Terms of Reference.

 

 

 

Harden Conferences

  • 4 – 5 day residential research conferences covering a specialist topic.
  • Conference proceedings are not published in order to promote the discussion of novel research.
  • Each Harden Conference is underwritten to a maximum of £15,000 by the Biochemical Society.
  • Full secretariat support is provided by the Conference Office.

Independent Meetings

 

Independent Meetings are organized entirely by an outside organization.

  • If accepted by the Meetings Board, they are offered financial and marketing support.
  • If proceedings are published in Biochemical Society Transactions the Independent Meeting may receive up to £4000. Proposals should be submitted 12-18 months in advance.
  • If not published in Biochemical Society Transactions they may receive £500 funding.
