Studying for a postgraduate qualification after completing your first degree can open up a whole new world of career opportunities in the future. Postgraduate qualifications often allow you to apply for more specialized jobs that aren’t available to the majority of graduates, and allow you to concentrate on a particular subject that interests you most.
There are a variety of different postgraduate courses available to you upon completing your degree. Some, such as PhDs, are research based and allow you to develop your scientific knowledge. Others, such as the PGCE teaching qualifications or Masters of Business Administration qualifications, allow you to gain a new skill set whilst still building on your scientific knowledge.
Remember that postgraduate courses, unlike undergraduate degrees, do not necessarily have loans available to cover tuition fees, and may require you to seek your own funding. Check with the course organizer carefully before committing to a postgraduate course on the funding arrangements available to you.
