Keep up-to-date with the latest scientific developments while on a career break, or having recently returned to work, with our Stay Connected Bursaries.
Stay Connected Bursaries cover the cost of registration to Society conferences, workshops or training days. Applicants can also apply for support towards accommodation, travel and/or care provision. Any member who is on a career break, or has recently returned to work following a career break, can apply.
Our Stay Connected Bursaries recognize that science moves at a rapid pace, and keeping up with the latest developments is pivotal in returning to a scientific career. These grants make it easier for people on a career break to remain engaged with the science community and return to work.
You will be required to give a full breakdown of costs. Please note that limited funds are available per event and whilst the Society will endeavor to support successful applicants to the amount required, the Society may not be able to provide full support for your attendance.
Applications can be made at any time; however applications must be received by the event’s early registration deadline.
- Applicants must be a member of the Biochemical Society. If you are not a member, join today. Scientists on a career break are eligible to join as an Associate Member at reduced rates.
- You will need to provide details of any career break taken and include the reason for this (e.g. parental leave, caring responsibilities, illness, unemployment or a desire to change career paths) and the length of the break.
- There are no set criteria (such as a minimum career break length) and decisions to award Bursaries are at the discretion of the Society.
- The Bursaries are available for any Biochemical Society Focused Meeting, Harden Conference, Hot Topic Event, Workshop or Training Day. See our upcoming events.
