The Society for Experimental Biology is an international membership organisation for those studying, practicing or with an interest in all areas of Experimental Biology. It aims to promote and increase the influence of Experimental Biology and foster cross disciplinary connections within the scientific community. The Society encompasses Animal, Plant, Cell Biology and Education and the events programme serves the needs of all four sectors.
As our education, outreach and diversity manager, you will be the member of staff with key responsibility for these areas of Society activity. The successful candidate will be pivotal in the re-launch of the outreach and engagement strategy for the Society and will champion diversity matters across the Society and beyond. You will have the confidence to build on previous work and shape our future programmes.
We are searching for someone who is passionate about biological sciences and enthusiastic about engaging the public with these sciences. You will have a personal commitment to tackling diversity issues in the broadest sense and be keen to see the scientific community better reflect the makeup of wider society.
Educated to graduate level, with an enthusiasm for and knowledge of biological sciences, with a specialism in either animal, cell or plant science. An excellent oral and written communicator, you will be comfortable working alongside people of all backgrounds and levels and have some experience of work on diversity and equalities issues. Experience of fundraising, although not essential, would be an advantage.
