Scientific Bonds: International Mentoring

Scientific Bonds: International Mentoring

The principle objective of the ‘Scientific Bonds: International Mentoring’ project is to catalyse an e-mentoring programme between multidisciplinary UK Learned Societies and institutions in developing countries, in the first instance on the continent of Africa. This project between the Biochemical Society and the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, will allow us to develop a toolkit for building and maintaining mentoring relationships by email which can then be shared with other learned societies.

As a result of these mentoring relationships we aim to enhance the scientific experience of students and early-career scientists by sharing scientific knowledge, providing a source of motivation and inspiration and offering advice. It is our aim that the mentors will find the programme personally rewarding, thereby contributing to their own personal and professional development.
