Mentoring

The Biochemical Society recognises the value in effective mentoring relationships, within the context of retaining staff and students in the scientific sector.  We currently offer two mentoring schemes aimed at two groups who are often under-represented in the sector: women and scientists from developing countries.


UKRC Mentoring
UKRC Mentoring

Mentoring has been proven over and again to successfully support women with a range of issues including career planning and progression, reducing isolation, networking, work/life balance and the development of new skills. The Society has paired up with the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET to initiate a mentoring scheme for our female members. The scheme will start in June 2009 and will initally run for one year with a view to increasing the number of mentoring pairs in subsequent years. Find out more and get involved...


Scientific Bonds: International Mentoring
Scientific Bonds: International Mentoring

The Scientific Bonds: International Mentoring project is a new Biochemical Society initiative aimed at raising the scientific capacity of developing countries.  The project, which received funding from ICSU and UNESCO, will pair scientists from our membership with undergraduate students at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria to share experience, ideas and expertise.  Find out more and get involved...
