About the Group
The Biochemical Society (BS) has set up a Communications Channel for Protein and Peptide Science (PPS) in the form of the BS PPS IT-supported Group. This Web Page is the BS PPS IT-supported Group Home Page within the Biochemical Society Main Web Site.
The BS PPS IT-supported Group works closely with the Biochemical Society's Theme Panels, in particular Molecular Structure and Function (Theme Panel II).and Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (Theme Panel VI)
BS PPS IT-supported Group Committee Members are: Brian M Austen (Chairman) (St George's Hospital Medical School, London), G Brent Irvine (Secretary) (Queen's University, Belfast), Weng C Chan (University of Nottingham), Parvez Haris (De Montfort University, Leicester), Corinne Kay (Organon Laboratories, Newhouse), Robin J Leatherbarrow (Imperial College, London), Gordon Roberts (University of Leicester), Lindsay Sawyer (University of Edinburgh), Ram P Sharma (University of Southampton), and Chris Southan (Astra Zenaca R&D, Möndal, Sweden)
For more information about the PPSG Group, visit our own website at: http://www.ppsg.org.uk/
BS PPS IT-supported Group Committee Members, who are also Members of Biochemical Society Theme Panels, are:-

Potential Meeting Organisers and other Societies and Groups who have ideas for new meetings or other joint activities relevant to Protein and Peptide Science should contact one of the BS PPS IT-supported Group Theme Panel Members listed above.
The purpose of the BS PPS IT-supported Group is to promote the subject of Protein and Peptide Science, primarily via the organization of meetings. The Group's interests include protein structure determination, structure prediction, molecular modeling and dynamics, protein separation and characterization, protein biosynthesis, protein expression, modification and targeting, combinatorial synthesis, protein design and engineering, drug-protein and protein-protein interactions and protein structure-function. The Group is committed to paving the way forward into functional genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics.
Historical Note:
The former Joint Protein and Peptide Science Group (PPSG), in recent years both a Special Interest Group of the Biochemical Society and a Subject Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry, has reverted to its historic status as a dedicated Subject Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry. The RSC Protein and Peptide Science Group is currently part of the RSC Chemical Biology Forum. Currently, the BS PPS IT-supported Group Committee Members also form an informal part of the Committee of the RSC PPSG.
