Using e-learning to improve student engagement in the biosciences: a workshop for HE educators

20 March 2017

Charles Darwin House, London, UK

Biochemical Society Training Event

This one day training event is relevant for all HE molecular bioscience lecturers, from early career to established academics, wanting to use e-learning to improve student engagement in and beyond the classroom. This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of e-learning methods in bioscience, and after completion, participants will be able to use the described technologies in their physical or virtual classrooms to enhance student engagement.

The event will include theoretical and hands-on sessions on:

-       Virtual labs

-       Apps in Higher Education

-       Personalised e-learning tools

-       Personalised audio feedback

-       E-portfolio

The workshop is aligned to Descriptor 2 of the UK professional standards framework (UKPSF[1]), so successful completion of the course can be used as evidence when applying to become a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). The areas of activities covered are K3 and V2.

Registration deadline: 13 March 2017

Registration is now open

The workshop is FREE to Society members and £90 to non-members.

Members wishing to attend this workshop will have to register and provide payment card details. Payment of £50 will be taken only if the member does not attend on the day or they fail to cancel in writing by the cancellation date.
