Scientific Meetings and Training Events

The Biochemical Society provides an extensive range of events, including scientific conferences, training events, outreach activities, medal lectures, and policy and education events.  This programme provides an excellent opportunity to magnify your research by submitting an abstract for an oral communication or poster presentation, and sharing your work with the wider molecular biosciences community.

Future Events > The 1st Biochemical Society and Against Breast Cancer Glyco Oncology Workshop

The 1st Biochemical Society and Against Breast Cancer Glyco Oncology Workshop

6 April 2017

New College, Oxford, UK

We aim to share the latest technological advances, mechanistic understanding and knowledge in the field of onco-glycobiology and to foster communication and collaboration to expedite research for earlier diagnosis, better monitoring and treatments for cancer patients, with a focus on metastatic breast cancer.

Glycobiology is a dynamic, rapidly evolving research field. Researchers are often geographically dispersed and have historically benefited from strong interdisciplinary collaboration. Recent developments in analytical methods and mechanistic understanding make it timely to converge researchers already active in the field, those from other disciplines and technology development experts to advance research and develop novel diagnostic tools and treatments, particularly for metastatic cancer patients.

The workshop will consist of short (flash) presentations followed by round table discussions on ‘hot topics’, training sessions targeted to new technologies and ‘surgeries’ to link up established glycobiology experts with groups needing support and specific techniques.

This workshop is being organised in association with Against Breast Cancer (Registered charity number 1121258).
