Networking at event

The 4th UK Workshop on Membrane Proteins training event will focus on the function of biological membranes and the biophysical techniques available to study their components in the context of biology and biotechnology. This event will comprise lectures, computer, and laboratory-based practical sessions.

Key learning objectives

  1. To understand the basics of membrane protein purification using cutting edge methods.
  2. To be able to describe the principles and applications of biophysical approaches to studying membrane proteins.
  3. To be able to undertake practical activities to understand membrane proteins.

Prerequisites

Attendees should have a basic grasp of membrane protein structure and function and protein biochemistry more widely. No particular practical experience is required, although some lab experience would be beneficial.

Mass photometry, an analytical technology for biomolecular characterization, measures the mass of single particles in solution. The TwoMP is an easy-to-use instrument that can measure the mass and relative abundance of particles between 30 kDa and 5 MDa, with little sample.

With mass photometry is possible to study antibody-antigen interactions, quantify small-molecule induced changes to complex formation, assess sample purity and more. Visit our website

Biochemical Society Bursaries

We offer a wide variety of bursaries to help you attend this event and save money on registration fees! Apply during the registration process for any of the following schemes:

Full, Early Career, and Student Bursaries: We offer bursaries of up to £300 to support the attendance of Full, Early Career, and Student members at our face-to-face and online scientific meetings, training events, and courses.

General Travel Grants: Funding of up to £750 is available to support attendance at scientific meetings, training courses, or lab visits. Available for Postgraduate, Early Career, Full, and Emeritus members.

Care and Assistance Grants: We recognise that care needs and requirements can vary from individual to individual. These grants provide additional funding to cover participation in a Society meeting or training course. The grant is open to all additional support needs, including but not limited to, carer support, childcare, disability, and accessibility needs.
