R for Biochemists 201
Starting 5 June 2023

R for Biochemists 201 is the Biochemical Society’s second R course, building on the content of R101 for those wishing to extend and develop their knowledge of R. The course has a focus on proteomic data analysis and uses modern data analysis concepts, packages and visualisations. R for Biochemists 201 teaches participants the key concepts of tidy data, about good coding practice such as developing reproducible workflows, and how to create more complex data visualisations in R.

The course is made up of four modules:

  • Bar charts and beyond
  • Calculating and adding p-values
  • Using R Markdown (to write reproducible reports with R)
  • Functions & Packages

Each module contains code demos, theory, exercises and quizzes to help support learning, with the Lead Educator responding to learner comments for the first 5 weeks.

The average estimated time of completion for each module is 2 hours, however this can vary for each learner. Participants will be able to complete the course at their own pace and will benefit from the interaction with the Lead Educator and fellow participants. The Lead Educator will reply to your comments and queries for the first five weeks from the course launch date. After this time, the interaction with the course leader won't be available but you'll continue to access the course for a year from its launch date.

It is advised that learners enrolled on R for Biochemists 201 have completed R for Biochemists 101 and have since practiced the code taught in that course. The next round of R for Biochemists 101 will run in September 2023.
