88th Harden Conference
Beyond catalysis: kinases and pseudokinases 2022

31 October - 3 November
Chesford Grange, Warwickshire, UK

SOLD OUT

Kinases and pseudokinases fulfill allosteric, scaffolding, molecular switch and decoy roles in cell signalling. The recent attention on pseudokinases has shone a light on under-appreciated non-catalytic functions that can be mediated by kinases, raising the prospect that novel and specific therapeutics could target these functions.

This rapidly advancing field is the theme of the 88th Harden Conference, an event series unique to the Biochemical Society, providing residential research conferences covering a specialist topic. These events are widely recognised for their emphasis on free and open discussion to encourage the exchange of the latest data and a critical discussion of the technical challenges that these developments face.

The event will bring together the ever-growing community of kinases and pseudokinases researchers, providing a platform for sharing the latest developments and an opportunity to foster new collaborations. The conference will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the publication of the first protein kinase structure (Knighton et al, Science 1991). Much of our understanding of these diverse proteins has emanated from this structure, providing an important context for this meeting and a milestone to be celebrated.

Biochemical Society Bursaries

We offer a wide variety of grants and bursaries to help you attend this event and save money on registration fees! Find out more below:

Harden Bursaries: We offer bursaries to help students and scientists in the early stage of their career attend Harden Conferences. The bursaries can, at the awardees discretion, help to cover the cost of registration, accommodation or travel. Apply via the abstract submission process today or email grants@biochemistry.org for more information.

General Travel Grants: We offer travel grants of up to £750 for Biochemical Society members to participate in scientific conferences, training courses, or lab visits! Apply before 1 September for your application to be considered.

Not a member of the Biochemical Society? Join today and save £100 on your registration fee.

The Company of Biologists are kindly sponsoring a travel fund to support the attendance of non-member students and postdocs at this meeting. This is a truly global meeting and we wish to reduce barriers that might prevent delegates from travelling internationally to participate in the meeting. To this end, travel awards of up to £500 are available to offset the costs associated with attendance and will be allocated on a sliding scale depending on the expenses associated with travel (e.g. greater support for delegates from Australia/NZ/China/India/Japan than USA/Canada, and less for Europe and UK delegates). Apply via the abstract submission process today or email grants@biochemistry.org for more information.
