A joint training event organised by FEBS and the Biochemical Society

Abstract deadline: 15 April 2021.

Please note places at this event are limited so we recommend you to book early to avoid disappointment.

We welcome abstracts to be considered as flash talk presentations during the event.

This two half day online event is aimed at anyone teaching in higher education in the molecular biosciences, from early career lecturers to established professors. The course aims to share best practice and novel ideas with higher educators, to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in their careers. The event will comprise of lectures, group discussions and flash talk presentations from attendees. ‘Evolving molecular bioscience education’ is supported by Heads of University Biosciences (HUBS).

Topics include:

  • Developing skills within a bioscience curriculum
  • Students as co-producers
  • Assessment and feedback
  • Education research across Europe
  • Teaching approaches

Attending this event will help colleagues working towards various levels of fellowship of the HEA. Being a delegate and participating in the event is evidence of the A5 and V3 dimensions of the UKPSF. In addition, there will be many ideas shared that, if implemented by delegates, could contribute to a number of the other dimensions.

Submit your abstract to be considered for a flash talk presentation. Abstracts should address an education subject and can be submitted for one of the specific topics in the programme. For example, research in Education, Training and Career planning in Molecular Life Sciences. And we would like to hear about experiences of remote university and teaching approaches used during the Covid-19 time.

Event registration is free of charge for members of the Biochemical Society and FEBS Constituent Societies.

Carer support grants are available for Biochemical Society members for this meeting. Click here to find out more.

COVID-19 (coronavirus)

The Biochemical Society has been monitoring developments and advice from the UK Government and World Health Organisation (WHO) since the emergence of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in January. The Biochemical Society has taken the decision to postpone or cancel all of its its face-to-face scientific meetings and training events scheduled in 2020. This difficult decision has been made by the Society’s Council of Trustees in light of the developing situation both within the UK and worldwide. To read more on this click here. This event initially planned for the 2-3 April 2020 has been rescheduled for 27-28 May 2021 and it will be held online.
