Synthetic Biology UK 2021

22-23 November 2021
East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham, UK

Abstract deadline: 22 September 2021
Earlybird registration deadline: 22 September 2021

Registration for live stream is now open!

Synthetic biology is a convergence of multiple fields that can generate both improved understanding of biological systems as well as cutting-edge biotechnology.

The establishment of UK centres focused on synthetic biology has massively increased the focus in synthetic biology, and there is a sizeable community working on a diversity of projects. There has been significant growth in research, combined with a number of companies within the biotech and pharma sectors that are incorporating synthetic biology technologies into their R&D programmes.

This popular annual event is always very well-attended and attracts an international audience. The programme of this scientific meeting will explore the unique opportunities of research in a number of areas of synthetic biology, establishing likely future directions and facilitating discussion about appropriate strategies. It will provide an excellent framework for scientists and engineers to learn about burgeoning new areas of activity, including the engineering of microbial communities, microbial-plant interactions and applications for sustainable manufacture of materials, the circular economy and climate mitigation strategies.

Twist Bioscience

Twist Bioscience is a leading and rapidly growing synthetic biology and genomics company that has developed a disruptive DNA synthesis platform to industrialize the engineering of biology. The core of the platform is a proprietary technology that pioneers a new method of manufacturing synthetic DNA by “writing” DNA on a silicon chip. Twist is leveraging its unique technology to manufacture a broad range of synthetic DNA-based products, including synthetic genes, tools for next-generation sequencing (NGS) preparation, and antibody libraries for drug discovery and development. Twist is also pursuing longer-term opportunities in digital data storage in DNA and biologics drug discovery. Twist makes products for use across many industries including healthcare, industrial chemicals, agriculture and academic research.

Integrated DNA Technologies, Inc. (IDT) is in the business of moving science forward. We are scientists working for scientists. Our innovative tools and solutions for genomics applications are breaking down barriers and inspiring you to dream big and achieve your next breakthroughs. IDT leads the industry in the manufacture of custom oligonucleotides for molecular biology applications. We've developed proprietary technologies for genomics applications, such as Next Generation Sequencing, CRISPR genome editing, qPCR, and RNA interference.

Areas of focus include academic and commercial research, agriculture, medical diagnostics, pharmaceutical development, and synthetic biology. Through our GMP services, we manufacture products used in diagnostic tests for many forms of cancer and most inherited and infectious diseases. We are run by scientists dedicated to helping other scientists answer research questions through collaborative interaction and are continually improving IDT synthesis platforms, processing technology, and automation, as well as our rapid prototyping and custom reagent production.

QIAGEN serves more than 500,000 customers around the globe, all seeking answers from the building blocks of life – DNA, RNA and proteins. We deliver Sample to Insight solutions for molecular testing, propelling our customers from start to finish to unlock new insights. This is how we make improvements in life possible.

Codex DNA: “Synthetic DNA on demand”

Our mission is to apply our breakthroughs in automation solutions for DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis to enable customers to program and "write" synthetic biology that creates sustainable healthcare and technology solutions for some of humanity’s biggest challenges.

Codex DNA products are radically transforming rapid demand and response workflows by consolidating supply chains and enabling global distributed manufacturing for both discovery and clinical applications. Our gene synthesis portfolio reduces the turnaround time for synthesizing workflows from weeks and months to days and hours, and includes the BioXp™ system, BioXp™ biofoundry services, Gibson Assembly® reagents, and Vmax™ chemically competent cells.

In addition to automating, accelerating, and optimizing DNA design, synthesis, cloning and amplification, Codex DNA and the BioXp™ system ensure your designs stay in your hands, marrying speed and security for innovators in drug discovery, vaccine development, precision medicine, and beyond. Co-founded by Dan Gibson — the creator of the industry-standard Gibson Assembly® methodology — Codex DNA is attempting nothing less than building biology and changing everything.
