Emerging Topics in Life Sciences, published by Portland Press on behalf of the Biochemical Society and the Royal Society of Biology, will be ceasing publication. Volume 9 (2025) is the final volume of the journal.

The journal has provided short reviews on diverse subjects across the life sciences – from archaeal biology and climate change to regenerative medicine and sustainable agriculture. All published content will remain accessible as an archive for future reference.

The decision to close the journal reflects challenges in securing content amid an evolving publishing landscape. The owner societies will continue to partner on other projects, as well as focusing on their other publications and activities to ensure continued support for their communities.
