News, Apr 21 2026

This spring nominations cycle, we’re welcoming applications for Associate Editors and Editorial Board members, as well as opportunities across our committees, panels and boards, offering a unique chance to influence the future of the molecular bioscience community while developing valuable professional skills.

Why should I become a committee member?

Becoming a committee member allows you to play an active role in shaping the Society’s direction and future strategy, as well as that of our publishing arm, Portland Press

These roles provide first hand experience of governance and leadership, while helping you to build confidence in communication, decision making and strategic thinking.

Alongside professional development, these roles offer the opportunity to give back to the community and support the next generation of bioscientists.

How do I find the right role for me?

When considering which role might be right for you, think about what you hope to gain and what you can contribute. You may bring transferable skills such as strategic insight, clear communication, and subject or sector knowledge that helps inform decisions and identify new opportunities.

Always consider your own skillset and availability when deciding the best role for you. This helps to align your passion and expertise with a role that can work around your schedule.

Don’t be put off if you don’t meet all the criteria, many of these roles are designed to support learning and development, and we welcome applications from individuals keen to grow their skills and experience.

Reviewing the available roles will help you identify opportunities that align with your interests, strengths and experience, as well as the time commitment involved.

Whether you are passionate about independent Society publishing and would enjoy contributing to an editorial board or prefer big picture thinking through a more strategic role, there are opportunities designed to suit a wide range of interests.

If you would like to find out more before applying, the governance team can put you in touch with staff or current committee and editorial board members for an informal conversation.

Explore the available roles and take the next step in shaping the future of the molecular bioscience community. Apply before noon (UK time) on 11 May 2026
