Biochemistry Focus Webinar Series

60 minutes

During this session we heard from three panellists who shared their experiences and provided advice on how to raise your professional profile.

The invited speakers discussed ideas for creating networking opportunities which in turn might generate collaborative opportunities, getting involved in organising events to gain recognition, seeking opportunities for mentoring/work experience schemes, and finding alternative routes in other career paths such as industry, communications, and editorial.

Invited speakers:

  • Dr Robbie Baldock (Solent University), member of the Biochemical Society’s Research Area I: Genes, and part of the Early Career Researcher Taskforce for the Society’s publisher, Portland Press.
  • Dr Helen Watson (Plymouth University), Chair of the Biochemical Society’s Education, Training and Public Engagement Committee.
  • Dr Parag Acharya (Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich), who was formerly a member of the Biochemical Society's Industry Advisory Panel and had recently transitioned from industry to academia.

This webinar was chaired by Professor Sheila Graham, University of Glasgow and Chair of the Biochemical Society.
