Biochemistry Focus Webinar Series

60 minutes

In this webinar, the invited speakers explored how the epigenome is altered in embryonic development in mammalian and non-mammalian species.

During this session, the speakers covered the non-mammalian perspective, in particular the inheritance and developmental reprogramming of non-CpG methylation in zebrafish as well as early mammalian development, from fertilization to gastrulation with a focus on zygotic genome activation and the transfer of control from the mother (oocyte) to embryo.

Invited speakers:

  • Dr Melanie Eckersley-Maslin, BBSRC Discovery Fellow at the Babraham Institute.
  • Dr Ozren Bogdanovic, Senior Research Fellow at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the University of New South Wales.

This webinar was chaired by Professor Marnie Blewitt, Joint Lead of the Epigenetics and Development Division at The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and Associate Editor for the Biochemical Society Transactions journal.
