The ‘Hidden Cell, Dark Genome’ conference will be held in Edinburgh on the 2-4th April 2025. This international conference is inspired by the combined aims of the Wellcome Discovery Research Platform for Hidden Cell Biology and MRC Human Genetics Unit at the University of Edinburgh in uncovering currently hidden areas of genetics, cellular and structural biology. It will provide a forum to present cutting-edge research, and to discuss how novel approaches and methodologies will make substantial breakthroughs in these critical areas of biology.
The British Meiosis Meeting provides a platform for scientists working on genetic recombination, cell division, and genome evolution in a wide range of (model) organisms to present their research to the scientific community. The majority of speakers will be New PIs, post-doctoral researchers and post-graduate students selected from abstracts. Incorporating a poster session and conference dinner, this meeting is open to all researchers with an interest in meiosis and is not restricted to the British meiosis community.
Practical Python for beginners: a Biochemist’s guide aims to teach the core skills which underlie the application of Python to complex, real-world research problems.
Part of our dedicated Biochemistry Focus Early Career Researcher (ECR) series, Dr Jeff Clark, founder of The Savvy Scientist website, will discuss how to spot the signs of stress and share practical strategies to manage it effectively.
In this webinar, our invited speaker will discuss how rRNA modification patterns, also termed “epitranscriptomic rRNA fingerprints”, can accurately identify tissue of origin and tumorigenicity, as well as exploring the future potential of rRNA modifications as diagnostic biomarkers.
In this webinar, our invited speakers will explore strategies for supporting neurodivergent students with executive function challenges in the biochemistry/chemistry classroom and laboratory.
Part of our dedicated Biochemistry Focus Early Career Researcher (ECR) series, speakers will share their experiences of starting their own independent research groups and share insights to equip and inform about this career milestone.
R for Biochemists 101 is the Biochemical Society’s original R course, aimed to equip researchers with the information, tools and techniques to use R. It is suited to beginners who want to use this programming software but have little or no experience.
Part of our dedicated Biochemistry Focus Early Career Researcher (ECR) series, this webinar will explore the extra-cellular matrix (ECM). Emerging research has discovered key opportunities in developing novel bioengineering cell models and enabling methodologies to tackle some of the fundamental biochemical questions in the field.
