Our commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
News, May 13 2025
As we look back on our current strategic period, we reflect on the last 3 years and our commitment to providing lasting impact in our community through our core values and strong Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles.
Our 2022-2025 strategy places EDI at the heart of all that we do, and we have established our aim to ensure our resources and activities are as inclusive and open as possible, with diverse identities involved at all levels.
Our Manifesto for Change, as part of our current strategy provides three key principles:
- Awareness : we continue to generate awareness of EDI through initiatives such as our dedicated impact page and our support of the inaugural Minoritised Life Scientists Future Forum.
- Action: recent examples of where we have taken action include our EDI in events statement and updates to our EDI Toolkit. We have also solidified open science practices in our journals with the launch of Subscribe to Open (S2O) this year and fee-free open access publishing in five of our titles in 2025, allowing for wider dissemination of research.
- Accountability: by sharing updates on the key themes identified in last year’s EDI survey we continue to hold ourselves accountable and ensure we meet the expectations of our community.
The Society remains committed to supporting the molecular biosciences and providing an open and transparent approach to our activities.
